Create a Symmetrical Moth Pattern in Procreate

Turn a simple template into a beautiful, seamless moth and floral pattern, ready for fabric, wallpaper, or your portfolio.

does this sound like you?

Want to try a symmetrical pattern, but don't know where to start?

Maybe symmetrical pattern design looks beautiful, but the idea of building one from scratch feels a bit daunting.

Maybe you've never used a template to guide a design before, and you're curious how much structure actually helps rather than gets in the way.

If either of those sounds familiar, this class walks you through the whole process, template and all.

Patterns Students have actually made!

And a few honest reflections from students who've been through the course, in their own words.

A lovely class with new takeaways for classical pattern construction with digital tools. A relatively short class, well-structured and easy to follow along. I enjoyed the process and am happy with the result. Thanks Mel, for yet another fantastic class!

Wonderful class! I've done quite a few tutorials on making repeating patterns in procreate and I have to say that this one really make it "click" for me. The teacher was engaging, informative, and encouraged creativity. I felt more than comfortable following along while not making an exact copy of her illustration and color palette. Will definitely be checking out more classes from this teacher.

Hey there, I'm Mel

I'm an illustrator and surface pattern designer based in Wellington, New Zealand. My work has been licensed by companies including Cloud9 Fabrics, Hallmark, Wentworth Puzzles, and Auzou and I've illustrated more than fifteen children's books.

Before any of that, I spent years as a software engineer, freelancing and contracting to large companies, and feeling completely burnt out by it. Surface pattern design gave me a second creative career, one I get to build on my own terms.

I've spent over a decade in this industry now, and I've made most of the mistakes so you don't have to. I built this course to share what actually worked, not just the theory, so you can build a career that feels like yours too.
